Mawe Ninga Tented Camp, Tarangire National Park, Tanzania

If you are planning a visit to Tarangire, you should definitely consider staying at Mawe Ninga Tented Camp. The food, the staff, the scaled-down intimacy of the camp all contribute to a fantastic experience. The sunset view from atop the camp’s high kopje encompasses a stunning panorama, overlooking Lake Burungi with Manyara in the far distance. Mawe Ninga is a great place to relax and unwind after a day spent exploring this true jewel of a park: home (for starters) to big herds of buffalo and elephant, endemic birds like the ashy starling, and huge old baobab trees. The camp’s 12 canvas tents are all set on stilts, each offering an incomparable view of the bush country below. I can’t recommend the camp highly enough.
